Building Communities Training

East Dorset Community Partnership’s ‘Building Communities Training’ programme is a series of training and information events designed to support volunteers and organisations involved in the partnership’s work.

The programme started in 2007 as a joint initiative between the East Dorset Community Partnership and Dorset Community Action. From May 2008, Christchurch Community Partnership have also come on board which has enabled us to offer a wider range of events to Christchurch and East Dorset volunteers and organisations. The programme has also been supported through funding from the Dorset Strategic Partnership.

Community lunches aimed at volunteers and organisations who manage volunteers, have proved to be a big success. There are at least three events a year covering a wide range of topics such as managing volunteers, funding applications, and involving young people.

Training sessions have also included personal safety, substance misuse, project management, consultation techniques, and Community Work skills.

If you are involved in the East Dorset or Christchurch Community Partnerships, or are volunteering in the either area you may be eligable to attend. Many of the sessions are offered for free or at very low cost. Dates and further details of forthcoming events can be located in the diary setion of this website.

If you are based in East Dorset or Christchurch and have any training requirements, please let us know by emailing us at community@eastdorset.gov.uk
