Welcome

The overall aim of the East Dorset Community Partnership is to add value to the many services, projects and initiatives that exist for East Dorset communities in a more efficient manner. It also works to identify and overcome any gaps in service provision.

The Partnership was launched at a Conference in January 2003, at which the top six issues of concern to residents were discussed. Six Themed Action Groups were subsequently established covering Community Safety, Environment, Health, Housing, Traffic and Transport, and Youth. Further groups are now being established to consider Spatial Planning, and the Third Sector.

Residents are involved through Parish Plans in rural areas and Local Action Groups (LAGs) in towns. Parish Plans undertake comprehensive survey work with their Parishioners and create an action plan to address residents' aspirations and concerns. Local Action Groups are a useful way of exchanging information with local community organisations and service providers.

Dorset Strategic Partnership and East Dorset District Council have so far provided funding to help carry out actions from the Community Plan and to enable Parishes to carry out Parish Plans.

If you would like to become more involved email your details to community@eastdorset.gov.uk
