An Invitation to a ‘Festive’ Community Supper

27th November 2007

Aimed at the Voluntary and Community sector, the festive supper should prove to be to an informative, yet celebratory event.

Alannah Bolt from Dorset Community Action will present an update on the much-anticipated results of a recent survey of the Voluntary and Community Sector. The research aimed to measure the impact of Voluntary and Community sector activity in Dorset.

Rob and Rory will also speak about the VOICE project, and it’s potential impact on the Voluntary and Community sector in East Dorset.

“The VOICE project has been strengthening partnerships with local Voluntary and Community sector organisations and the Dorset Strategic Partnership (DSP) to ensure effective representation from the Voluntary and Community sector within the DSP. This representation has been achieved by setting up themed Voluntary and Community sector ‘Forums’. There are hopes for a Voluntary and Community sector Forum for East Dorset and we will explain how this Forum could work” Rob Griffith DCA

Simon Woodcock, Community Development Manager at East Dorset District Council will also outline ways in which the Voluntary and Community sector can feed into the community planning process. “Voluntary and Community Sector organisations take on an often unnoticed role in supporting the community in any number of ways. They in turn can also provide a vast amount of information about problems at a community level which may otherwise go unnoticed. The Community Partnership could act as a conduit for this information which could then help to inform the Community Plan, as well as building better working relationships with this sector”.

The festive community supper will take place on the evening of the 11th December and is free to attend.
