1. Regional Spatial Strategy/Local Development Framework Next Steps, Including Affects of Transport Issues
• Ongoing / planners producing reports / Richard Henshaw to speak with LAG’s.
• EDDC supporting urban development in the Cuthbury area.
• Objections to urban development in Wimborne/Colehill.
• Major issues over A31 capacity / a study has shown the A31 already at capacity.
• Highways Authority support this.
• Options for improvements at Canford Bottom roundabout / also Merley.
• Possible change to the road type / hamburger system / traffic lights.

2. Local Gravel Extraction Plans e.g. at Cannon Hill
• There are a number of possible sites for gravel extraction in our area.
• Would be a cause of extra traffic.
• Consultancy period undergoing at present / ends 12TH December 2008.
• Council Meeting to review on Wednesday 26th November 2008.
• Interested parties, i.e. contractors put these sites forward / not the Forestry Commission.
• Intentions to refill the sites with landfill / period of time before land can be reused / extra traffic from lorries in the area.
• Comments can be made on www.dorsetforyou.com / local libraries / by telephone
• Colehill Parish Council intend to put in objections.
• There is a national requirement to supply building materials.
• Overall view is that the group object to the gravel pit sites.

3. How to Apply for Project Funding from the District Council and from the Community Partnership
• Dorset County and Community Partnerships allocate funds/grants each year.
• Bidding process starting now.
• Community Chest Grants are from £500 to £5,000 / for new projects / equipment or revenue support / deadline for applications is 19th December 2008.
• Revenue Support Fund / maximum £5,000 / not for equipment purchases / process involves an interview with the grants panel / meeting January 2009.
• Community Building Grant / for village halls etc / £10,000.
• Funding geared towards projects from Parish Council ideas / support of Dorset initiatives.
• Example: shared SID purchased from partial funding / speed pledge also.
• Urge to put requests for funding in.

4. Local Updates:
• WAITROSE - Ron Tomlin has spoken with Neil Lancaster from EDDC Planning / understands that the decision is subject to provisos / Waitrose have submitted follow up documents / unlikely that decision will be made in December meeting / more likely to be in January. HOMEWATCH – Discussions with Dorset Police re Homewatch support in this area / Anita Rigler is the full time Watch Manager for the County Division / agreed to keep coordinator in post in Weymouth for at least 6 months.
• WIMBORNE & COLEHILL PACT PANEL – when members of the public have concerns they can be brought to the PACT panel with LAG meeting used as a forum for raising community issues for consideration.
• Wimborne Issues include Fairfield, Chene and Welland Road anti social behavior / a vagrant living in the town.
• New issues: Stone Lane speeding problems / police asked to do checks on this road / pedestrian crossing issues from Sheppard’s Field into Wimborne / Furzehill to Canford Bridge speeding problems / Park Lane dangerous for cyclists.
• St Michael’s school do not recommend cycling to school due to traffic problems / improvements needed & possible cycle way put into the triangle/woodland area for increased safety / Highways Department prepared to pay for this.
• Middlehill traffic calming scheme to start in January 2009 / diversions through Wimborne expected / queries over delays to Bus Service 13 to Bournemouth / nothing on dorsetforyou website at present.


• LEIGH PARK PACT PANEL – The open meeting was cancelled due to lack of support/ issue re market parking / rugby / anti-social behavior / litter problems / the Safer Neighborhood local officer is currently on light duties / Industrial Watch introduced on Brook Road and Riverside Park.

5. OPEN FORUM - Colehill street lighting queries / Southern Electric now replacing the lighting / low wattage / cheaper to run / spot marks can be found on pavements where the new lamps will be placed.

6. ANY OTHER BUSINESS
• Annual Homewatch meeting is on 26/11/08 – agenda will include Police update from Inspector Darkin & latest consumer legislation by Trading Standards/ all welcome.
• Ron Tomlin advised that leaflets are available on the mineral extraction / also new cycle route maps available.
• Moors Valley user guide for cyclists available for £3.75.
• Norma Aitchison advised that funding is being raised for a new youth centre at St Michael’s School / need to raise 30% of costs before they can apply for grants / Christmas cards are on sale at £3.50 – proceeds towards the fund.
• For information: the curbs have now been dropped in Ventnor Place to help with resident’s access into Wimborne.
