1. Introduction and Welcome
Jim Fiander, Vice Chair, opened the meeting and welcomed everyone.
Chair, Venetia has resigned. Many thanks to her for her past service. Jim is willing to stand as Chair, full support, no queries. Accepted.

3.Matters Arising from Feb. Meeting :
8.4 Cemetery gates' restricted opening - Councillor Lucy Clark reported, no change for another 6 months, to see how it went.
Matters Arising from June Meeting:-
8.1 Ebblake estate: problem re gas cylinders outstanding. Councillor Spencer Flower to action.
Matters Arising from April Meeting: 6 April 2009:
3.4 Station Road, school crossing - location moved already, in conjunction with appointment of a Lollipop Lady.
3.5 Morrisons: Councillor Flower reported that neither County nor District Councils have held up planning. Recent meeting; Follow up meeting to be held.
Tesco’s - no filling station, but proposed for Morrisons.
4.East Dorset Community Partnership update: from Ron Tomlin. Re-structuring update: initially Partnership structure set up as a trial. Many developments since then. Several Action/Theme groups now established. Changes to reflect those developments. Community Panel - way for community people to get together to talk about common issues and themes. Could include the LAG. Consultations continuing. Lessons will be learnt. Need for everyone to make helpful comments and suggestions to Ron Tomlin, @ East Dorset Council office @ Furzehill, by letter, e-mail, or fax. Details are at the top of the Agenda sheet. No change to the way the Verwood LAG will work.
5. Crime Report - PC Andy Robertson: Crime trend is upwards, stones thrown & criminal damage, etc. Request made for increased finance for overtime. Ant-Social Behaviour has increased, previously due to two individuals. Restraining Order now in place on one person, for several years. ASBO on another person being requested. Should see downturn. Several speed checks done. Noted that problems re very fast traffic on Ringwood Road early in the morning. Noted by PC Robertson. Speed Indication Device (S.I.D.) requested for Ringwood Road, noted by PC Robertson. Suggestion that the speed camera in Ringwood Road be removed as it has not worked for some time.
Problem re drivers doing U turns into Brock Way; too narrow for an island to be installed. Enquiries to be made. Action:PC Robertson and

6. Open Forum:
A) Neighbourhood Warden: scheme running well, in Ferndown. Aim: Local matters dealt with locally rather than having to be dealt with at County/District level. Agreed: Chair to send e-mail to Council office to ask for the possibility of this new position to be considered at the meeting of the Finance and General Purposes Committee on Tuesday evening, 14th July. Action: J Fiander
B) MUGA update: meeting this week @ EDDC re planning issues. Action: E Whatmore
7. Any Other Business:
A) British Legion Hall: under threat, from Central Office. New Committee formed to raise profile and activities. Need for support from the community.
B) Hengistbury Head Education Centre: operation being put out to tender. Under threat, if sold commercially. Local support needed. Contact: Pam Donellan Chief Executive, Bournemouth Borough Council; e-mail: pam.donellan@bournemouth.gov.uk
C) Shops being built on Ringwood Road: Delays re the build, ongoing. D) Potterne Park: was horse free, new permissive horse paths have been installed but paths are rather narrow, in spite of bridle path close by. No consultation before change. Use of footpaths by horses challenged. Action: Cllr Flower
E) HSBC: local branch closing in September.
F) Crane Drive flats: graffiti increased, no further news. District Council has boarded up lift shafts. Safety issue passed to Receiver who must take action to be made safe. Rats issue dealt with successfully.
